Our shop is located in the main street leading down to Getaria's fishing port. We'll be here waiting for you in the Calle Mayor with our catalogue of anchovies, white anchovies, white tuna and, of course, octopus. Here you'll find a wide selection of fish and octopus preserves with the traditional flavour of our land.
As well as our own products, at Salanort we have a carefully made selection of the best local products. All of them come with the Basque Country, Navarra and French Basque Country DO label, guaranteeing delicious flavour. Here you'll find exquisite Idiazabal cheese, Txakoli wine from Getaria, locally-made craft beers and the traditional almond 'tile' and ' cigar' biscuits made in Tolosa. At Salanort we always work with high-quality products. We have the enormous luck to have the port of Getaria, one of the most important on the Cantabrian Sea, only metres from our factory, meaning that we can control the arrival of fresh products and select the best material for its subsequent preparation at our canning factory.
We always work to artisanal methods, although we neither disregard nor neglect the major technological advances which enable us to proceed with greater speed in our packaging systems. We respect the traditions of fishing and of preparing anchovies, white anchovies and white tuna. That’s why, as soon as the fresh product arrives at our factory, we prepare it using slow cooking methods so as not to damage the raw material. The product keeps better at 70ºC and its flavour is more authentic and exquisite.
We are also ecologically conscious, meaning that our packaging materials can be recycled and that we don’t use contaminating products.
Today we export our products all over Europe and we are currently strongly expanding in the USA and a number of Asian countries. This makes us Getaria’s most important canning factory.
